Quality Work

“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution.” (Will A. Foster)

Do you also have ambitious aims? And do you fully agree with this quotation? The difficulty lies in making the right steps to achieve these aims. One after another and every step better. And all with reasonable efforts.

As specialists for quality work we support you in your development processes. This allows you to achieve your high aims. In particular, we offer you our know-how on quality planning, quality control and quality improvement.

Benefits

  • Reduction of costs and efforts due to early identification of project risks and their causes
  • Establishing a substantial competitive advantage if applied consistently

Quality planning provides the basis for the operational quality management. The derivation of quality objectives allows the identification and planning of quality processes and quality methods.

Are the necessary resources for a complete and feasible advanced quality planning aligned with and scheduled in the project plan?

CONTEXT services

  • Planning and organization
    • Planning quality activities in development projects
      • Supporting the advanced quality planning's preparation for development projects (e.g. APQP)
      • Integrating the quality planning into the project planning
      • Coordinating quality plans along entire process chains and project hierarchies
      • Controlling the quality planning over the duration of the project
    • Forecasting the reliability key figures and warranty key figures
    • Reporting
      • Status quality of milestones
      • Making forecasts of the target achievement
  • Target management and requirements management
    • Derivating and documenting quality objectives
    • Aligning requirements and documenting requirements comprehensibly
    • Analyzing requirements of complex projects (e.g. coherence analysis)
    • Analyses with the aim of identifying requirement conflicts

Quality control is the part of quality management that focuses on the fulfilment of quality requirements. It encompasses the implementation of the planned quality methods respectively quality processes and techniques for monitoring the problem solving process to eliminate the causes of unsatisfactory results.

CONTEXT services

  • “Preventive” quality work during the development phase
    • Requirements management
      • Requirements verification
      • Evaluating and managing the requirements specification's quality
    • Risk management
      • Evaluating component risks
      • Identifying development risks
      • Supporting the derivation of risk-minimizing measures
    • Target management: Generating target forecasts such as with regard to warranty (costs, cases, complaints)
    • Applying and implementing preventive quality methods
    • Ensuring best practices
      • Applying proven and cost-saving methods
      • Applying proven technical systems
    • Preparing quality guidelines
    • Assisting in the development of process stability on the side of the suppliers
    • Planning and tracking the component validations/tests
    • Pro-active advice/support of the technical departments on preventive quality management
      • Providing quality-specific trainings
      • Running/moderating quality-theme related workshops
    • Process support in defining significant and critical characteristics according to ISO/TS 16949 respectively the VDA volume on significant and critical characteristics
      • Checking drawings
      • Accelerating the implementation
    • Process support in defining the reliability features over the components' lifespan
    • Assisting in the development of problem solutions
  • Controlling the problem management process
    • Accelerating and methodological support in root cause analysis and in the development of corrective actions
    • Monitoring and demanding the proof of efficacy
    • Creating transparency in the existing problem landscape
    • Allocating of actions' responsibilities and controlling the status reports
    • Reporting the status to the management
    • Taking the interface function between problem detector and the persons responsible for the solution
  • Quality reporting
    • Component maturity level documentation
    • Facilitating the quality status (project status)
    • Escalating in the event of deviations from the quality targets

How to be permanently one decisive step ahead of the competition via continuous improvement?

CONTEXT services

  • Planning and (re-)implementing quality management systems
  • Coaching staff members and quality organizations
  • Advising on Kaizen and continuous improvement process (KVP)
  • Conducting audits
  • Optimizing manufacturing processes and assembly processes

The product quality once attained does not necessarily remain steady and therefore should be safeguarded even after start of production. A systematic collection and analysis of fied data allows to reveal fluctuations of the product's reliability during its mass production. Suitable measures afterwards can help to bring the series quality back to the required level.

Provided that an appropriate information flow is arranged, one can draw conclusions on the failure and disturbance behaviour in the field, i.e. during the product usage of the end customer. At the same time, the manufacturer gains insights into the actual application conditions of his products. Utilization profiles may vary significantly, especially in their geographic and climatic context.

Recorded and analyzed field data facilitate quick reaction times via a promptly identified trouble focus and simplify the forecast of warranty claims/expenses.

Subject to a feedback loop towards construction and R&D, the problem's root causes may be eliminated effectively by corresponding actions. Quality planning monitors the progress and the compliance with deadlines aiming at the optimization of current product generations.

CONTEXT services

  • Analyzing internally and externally collected field data (e.g. interpretation of warranty extrapolations)
  • Tracing and illustrating continuously the development of notified failures (even beyond warranty period)
  • Reporting the results to the responsible parties and introducing into committees
  • Supporting trouble-shooting teams in the compilation and validation of relevant data
